Job description

Join Capgemini Engineering, a global leader in engineering services, and contribute to groundbreaking projects in wind turbine, heavy engineering, or industrial equipment design. This role focuses on the complete lifecycle of mechanical components and systems, from initial design and development through validation and continuous improvement.

As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be instrumental in creating designs that are not only robust and cost-effective but also highly manufacturable. You will leverage advanced CAD tools and engineering principles to deliver innovative technical solutions, ensuring compliance with all relevant standards and specifications.

This is a career-defining opportunity to work with a collaborative, diverse team dedicated to pushing the boundaries of engineering and driving sustainable growth for leading industrial organizations.

Responsibilities

Design and develop mechanical systems and wind turbine components to meet stringent requirements for functionality, reliability, safety, manufacturability, serviceability, and cost. Create detailed 3D models, assemblies, and manufacturing drawings using NX CAD, applying advanced techniques like parametric modelling and large assembly management. Develop concepts for fabricated structures, sheet metal parts, and various types of assemblies, ensuring precise dimensional control with GD&T. Prepare comprehensive engineering documentation, including BOMs, spare parts lists, and service manuals. Conduct crucial analyses such as tolerance stack-ups, interference checks, and manufacturability evaluations to validate designs. Ensure designs adhere to international standards, safety regulations, customer needs, and company drafting practices. Actively participate in DFM, DFA, and DFS initiatives, along with FMEA and risk assessment activities. Lead technical discussions and design reviews, collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams, suppliers, and external partners.

Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, with a specialization or significant experience in Heavy Engineering, Industrial Machinery, Wind Energy, Power Generation, Oil & Gas, or Construction Equipment. Possess 5 to 8 years of hands-on experience in mechanical design, specifically within relevant industrial sectors. Demonstrated expertise with NX CAD and CATIA, including advanced parametric modelling, expression-based modelling, and assembly management. Proven experience in designing and detailing sheet metal components, fabricated structures, and welded assemblies. Strong understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and engineering drafting standards. Familiarity with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems, such as Teamcenter. Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to lead technical discussions and drive engineering excellence.
