Job description

Join GE Healthcare as a Mechanical Architect and drive the future of Diagnostic Cardiology. This role offers the opportunity to shape technology roadmaps, lead innovation, and develop cost-effective solutions for critical medical devices.

As a key player in global medical technology, GE Healthcare is dedicated to improving lives. This position is ideal for ambitious individuals eager to translate groundbreaking ideas into tangible advancements in healthcare.

This position provides architectural leadership for the mechanical design and development of Diagnostic Cardiology products. You will guide technology strategy, ensure successful product execution, and foster the development of engineering talent, all while delivering innovative, reliable, and manufacturable solutions.

Responsibilities

Lead the mechanical technology roadmap for premium Resting and Stress ECG products, aligning with business and platform strategies. Provide technical leadership for New Product Introduction (NPI), Advanced Technology Development (ATD), and cost productivity initiatives.

Own the mechanical architecture and detailed design of components, assemblies, and complete systems. Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams including Systems, Electrical, Software, Manufacturing, Quality, and Service.

Translate product requirements into robust, manufacturable, and cost-effective mechanical solutions. Conduct and oversee engineering analyses, including structural, thermal, and finite element simulations. Create and review high-quality engineering deliverables such as CAD models, drawings, and Bills of Materials.

Lead prototype development, system integration, and design verification. Drive innovation through new concepts and emerging technologies. Promote standardization and design reuse to enhance efficiency and quality. Mentor and develop engineering talent, providing technical guidance and workload leadership.

Support manufacturing, supplier, and field-service teams in resolving technical issues and improving product quality. Evaluate industry trends and identify technology gaps to strengthen product competitiveness.

Qualifications

A Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering is required, with a minimum of 12 years of experience in leading the design and development of systems incorporating plastic molded, casting, and sheet-metal components. A Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering is preferred, alongside demonstrated technical leadership in regulated medical device development.

Key technical expertise includes strong command of mechanical and structural design, analysis, and verification for complex electro-mechanical systems. Proficiency in CAD tools like Creo for 3D modeling, detailed drawings, and tolerance analysis is essential.

Hands-on experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA), structural and thermal analysis, and engineering calculations is crucial. A solid understanding of Design for Manufacturing (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA), and material selection for various component types is also necessary.

Experience in product verification, experimental testing, prototype development, and subsystem integration is required. Expertise in reliability engineering, including DFMEA, Failure Analysis, and Weibull Analysis, is vital. Familiarity with medical device development processes (NPD, NPI) and Systems Engineering principles is expected.

Thorough knowledge of global medical device quality, safety, and regulatory requirements, such as FDA and IEC 60601 standards, is mandatory. Experience with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM/PDM) tools like Windchill and application of Six Sigma methodologies are important.

Candidates should be adept at conducting technical trade-off analyses and making data-driven design decisions. Familiarity with modern engineering design tools, methodologies, and industry best practices is expected. Demonstrated leadership, problem-solving skills, and a commitment to integrity are paramount.
