Job description

Join Mastercard, a global technology leader in the payments industry, dedicated to connecting and powering an inclusive, digital economy that benefits everyone. We leverage secure data, innovative partnerships, and passionate individuals to help financial institutions, governments, and businesses achieve their greatest potential. Our commitment to a sustainable world unlocks priceless possibilities for all, reaching over 210 countries and territories.

The Payment Networks Technology Switching Solutions team is searching for an experienced professional to drive significant cross-functional strategic initiatives. This role is pivotal in supporting both market-facing and internal programs, ensuring seamless engagement from product packaging through production deployment. As the single accountable person for project delivery, you will be instrumental in guiding each initiative to successful completion.

Responsibilities

Lead a global team in conceptualizing, rationalizing, and executing multiple simultaneous projects to deliver engineering excellence. Develop and communicate a clear vision that aligns with broader departmental and organizational goals, leveraging a deep understanding of the platform, integration patterns, and company-wide assets. Continuously monitor key performance indicators, analyze results, and drive positive improvements. Rigorously inspect delivery plans and execution metrics, adapting to shifting priorities while managing multiple activities concurrently. Foster strong internal relationships, manage escalations effectively, and actively champion the development of your technical staff, ensuring accountability for performance.

Oversee the planning, execution, and end-to-end delivery of multiple technology products and programs. Proactively manage engineering work through cross-functional teams and dependent organizations, identifying and resolving gaps in processes and systems. Lead, coach, and develop a team of Technical Program Managers (TPMs), conducting performance reviews and fostering career growth. Drive employee engagement and cultivate a high-performance, inclusive culture. Mentor TPMs in program management, stakeholder engagement, communication, and leadership, building leadership capabilities within the organization.

Govern a portfolio of programs and projects, ensuring delivery commitments are met through established portfolio-level governance processes. Monitor project health, risks, dependencies, milestones, and resource allocations. Ensure consistent execution methodologies and reporting standards. Provide clear visibility into portfolio status and outcomes, acting as the primary escalation point for critical delivery issues. Communicate portfolio status, risks, and recommendations to senior leadership, building strong partnerships with Product, Engineering, Operations, Architecture, Security, and Business teams.

Facilitate executive reviews and governance forums, ensuring stakeholders receive timely and actionable communications. Establish effective operating rhythms, governance routines, and performance metrics. Drive standardization of project management practices, tools, and reporting. Lead process improvement initiatives to enhance delivery predictability and efficiency. Promote automation, AI adoption, and productivity improvements. Facilitate Planning Increment (PI) sessions and collaborate with engineering teams to define release plans, ensuring technical credibility and constructive discussions. Secure resources, scope efforts, set priorities, and establish delivery milestones in collaboration with engineering managers.

Qualifications

Demonstrated experience in leading global teams and driving large, cross-functional strategic initiatives within the payments or technology sector. Proven ability to manage the end-to-end delivery of complex engineering work through multiple teams and dependent organizations. Strong understanding of program management principles, including planning, execution, risk management, resource allocation, and governance. Experience in developing and communicating strategic vision, and fostering a high-performance, inclusive team culture. Proficiency in project management tools and methodologies, with a focus on process improvement, automation, and AI adoption. Excellent stakeholder management and executive communication skills, with the ability to build strong partnerships across various business and technical functions.

Experience in managing escalations, driving performance management, and mentoring technical staff. Ability to adapt to shifting goals and manage multiple activities in parallel. A solid grasp of information security practices is essential, adhering to Mastercard's security policies and ensuring the confidentiality and integrity of information. Familiarity with portfolio management and establishing governance processes is required. You should possess the technical credibility to drive constructive discussions with engineering teams and collaborate effectively with engineering managers to set priorities and delivery milestones.
