We are seeking a Manager, Software Engineering to lead and inspire our engineering teams. This role is pivotal in the analysis, design, development, and delivery of high-quality software solutions, ensuring adherence to best practices and standards.
As a Manager, Software Engineering, you will formally supervise and coach multiple engineering teams, guiding the creation, enhancement, and support of diverse applications and services. You will collaborate closely with product owners to define and deliver new services, ensuring alignment with business objectives. Your responsibilities include establishing and reviewing development plans, recruiting top talent, and fostering continuous team improvement through regular one-on-one meetings, career development support, and performance feedback. You will also manage budgets, drive strategic thinking for applications and systems, and champion engineering productivity and compliance with technology policies. Proactive knowledge sharing within the engineering community is essential to promote the reuse of patterns and enhance overall productivity.
Candidates should possess significant IT experience with a proven track record in managing small-scale development organizations, demonstrating strong thought leadership and cross-functional influence. A career marked by progressive growth and hands-on design and development experience is essential, including expertise in secure coding standards (e.g., OWASP, CWE, SEI CERT) and vulnerability management. Proficiency in building applications using open frameworks like Spring Boot, Steeltoe, and Angular, as well as understanding operating system internals for performant code, is required. The ability to debug complex issues, document best practices, and coach teams on development guidelines is crucial. Familiarity with advanced design patterns, technical debt management, system architecture for capacity planning, and ensuring excellent customer experiences through reduced incident response times is also key. Experience in simplifying deployments, orchestrating CI/CD pipelines with standard tools, and configuring automated code scanning for vulnerabilities is expected.
