As a Manager, Software Engineering, you will formally supervise, coach, and develop your team. You'll lead multiple Scrum teams, fostering best practices and a positive culture. This includes conducting effective one-on-one meetings, demonstrating a customer-first mindset, and timely escalation of risks.
You will ensure team compliance with goal setting and performance appraisal processes, consistently challenging the team for continuous improvement. Your strategic leadership will guide specific applications, systems, and software development methodologies. You'll oversee projects of moderate complexity and be accountable at the departmental or divisional level, ensuring projects meet business needs.
Key responsibilities also include effective project planning, development, and execution. You will ensure accurate communication with project staff and stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle and regularly report project status to management. Identifying and mitigating project barriers is crucial. You will also prioritize enhancements, new products, and processes to support business objectives.
We are seeking an experienced professional with at least 10 years of overall IT experience, covering all phases of the development lifecycle and client relationship building. A minimum of 1 year of people management experience is essential.
Candidates should have hands-on experience with Java SpringBoot applications and a background in Oracle. Familiarity with building Splunk dashboards or other monitoring tools is beneficial. Experience engaging and managing external IT vendors is also required.
This role demands a broad knowledge of strategy, planning, and project management techniques, along with in-depth expertise in project planning tools. Extensive experience managing Scrum teams and Agile processes (Scrum, SAFe) is critical. You should possess a strong understanding of project management methodologies, systems development, organizational change management, and business process improvement.
While knowledge of Mastercard and the payments industry is preferred, strong project management, planning, organizational, and leadership skills are paramount. Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal skills for presenting technical concepts to non-technical clients, meeting facilitation, and negotiation abilities are also key. Strong business judgment, analytical and problem-solving skills are necessary. The ability to direct the work of others and thrive in a team environment, demonstrating high initiative and accountability, is expected.
