We are seeking a seasoned Software Development Manager to lead a high-performing, agile engineering team within the Prime Video Offers domain. This role is pivotal in overseeing critical services and customer experiences that dictate purchasing, renting, and subscription options, as well as pricing strategies. You will integrate hands-on technical leadership with strong execution and people management skills, guiding the team through architectural advancements and delivering customer-centric features on a global scale. Your responsibilities will encompass architecture, development, operational excellence, and long-term technical vision, with the opportunity to impact systems serving millions.

Collaboration is key; you will partner closely with product managers, senior engineers, and other Prime Video teams to tackle complex challenges, make informed technical decisions, and foster a team that consistently produces superior results.

As a Software Development Manager on the Prime Video Offers team, your responsibilities will include:

- Owning a critical engineering pillar from conception to delivery, leading a team responsible for core commerce services and customer journeys. - Directing the architecture, execution, operational health, and overall technical integrity of your domain. - Driving architectural modernization and improvements, making strategic decisions to enhance scalability, reliability, maintainability, and development velocity. - Cultivating a high-performing team through effective hiring, coaching, and retention of engineering talent. - Elevating the technical expertise of engineers at all levels and fostering a culture of ownership, innovation, collaboration, and customer focus. - Establishing and enforcing high standards for operational excellence, ensuring service reliability and managing aspects like availability, latency, monitoring, incident response, cost efficiency, and continuous improvement. - Delivering significant customer impact globally by translating business needs into engineering priorities and developing robust capabilities for Prime Video's worldwide user base. - Collaborating effectively across product, design, engineering, and partner teams to align technical strategies, manage interdependencies, and deliver integrated solutions. - Balancing immediate delivery needs with strategic long-term investments, making judicious trade-offs between feature releases, technical debt, and foundational improvements. - Influencing the broader Prime Video commerce architecture and engineering practices, contributing your team's perspective and promoting scalable patterns.

Basic Qualifications: - Minimum of 7 years in software engineering. - At least 3 years of experience managing engineering teams. - Over 8 years of experience leading the design and development of multi-tier web services. - Profound knowledge of engineering practices across the full development lifecycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control, build processes, testing, certification, and live operations. - Demonstrated experience partnering with product or program management teams.

Preferred Qualifications: - Experience effectively communicating technical designs, product features, and strategy to users, technical teams, and senior leadership. - Proven ability in recruiting, hiring, mentoring, and managing software engineers to enhance their skills and effectiveness.
