This is an opportunity to leverage your expertise in PostgreSQL to ensure the seamless operation and continuous improvement of our database infrastructure. You will play a key role in architecting, implementing, and managing robust database solutions within a dynamic, hybrid cloud setting.

Provide comprehensive 24/7 database support, adeptly managing incidents, requests, and changes. Automate routine tasks like patch deployments and installations to enhance efficiency. Design and develop scalable database architectures, recommending suitable hardware and network solutions. Optimize data storage, retrieval, and indexing for peak performance while ensuring data integrity and security.

Collaborate with development and system administration teams to refine database operations. Utilize performance monitoring tools, optimize queries, and analyze long-running queries and deadlocks. Drive ticket reduction through effective problem management and contribute to the automation of recurring tasks. Manage account operations, including user profiles, security, and audit controls. Implement index defragmentation, re-indexing, and query tuning strategies. Oversee Disaster Recovery and resiliency strategies and associated infrastructure architecture.

Troubleshoot and resolve complex performance issues, manage patching, upgrades, and migrations. Support migration efforts from other databases like MSSQL, Sybase, and Oracle to PostgreSQL. Ensure smooth execution of disaster recovery tests and exercises.

A Bachelor's degree is required for this position. Significant hands-on experience with database standards and end-user applications is essential. Expertise is needed in PostgreSQL versions 12, 13, 14, and 15, along with a deep understanding of PG RDBMS architecture, design, backup, recovery, replication, and performance tuning. Proficiency in using tools such as REPMGR, PGBACKUP, pg_repack, and pg_audit is also necessary.

Strong knowledge of configuration files like Pg_hba.Conf and Postgresql.Conf, including parameter values, is expected. Scripting skills in Ansible and SHELL are crucial. You should be adept at troubleshooting complex performance problems and managing patching, upgrades, and migrations. Experience with open-source monitoring tools and disaster recovery exercises is vital.

Experience managing RDS for PostgreSQL on AWS and operating within large-scale environments (1000+ databases) is highly desirable. Familiarity with banking domain specifics is a plus. Expert knowledge of ITIL processes (Incident, Problem, Change Management, CSI) and exceptional communication, coordination, and interpersonal skills are required to collaborate effectively across global teams and clients. Demonstrable crisis management skills and experience in automated or cloud-based infrastructure environments, particularly 'AaS platforms', are also key.
