As a Software Development Manager, you will guide a team focused on designing, developing, deploying, and operating compute infrastructure services across OCI's global enterprise cloud. Your role demands technical depth, architectural insight, experience with distributed systems, and strong people and process management capabilities.

Key duties include leading a high-performance team, owning service lifecycles from design to operations, and leveraging AI to boost team productivity. You'll create project plans, estimate efforts, manage parallel work streams, and assess/mitigate risks. Ensuring 24x7 operational support for a no-downtime architecture and performing root cause analysis are also essential. Building collaborative relationships with other OCI leaders for effective integrations and cross-team initiatives is vital.

We are looking for an experienced leader with over 10 years in software development and at least 6 years of experience in delivering and operating large-scale, highly-available distributed systems. A minimum of 2 years managing engineering teams, including goal setting and talent reviews, is required.

Demonstrated success in attracting, developing, and retaining top engineering talent is crucial. Hands-on expertise in Java backend microservices, Kubernetes, and infrastructure automation is essential. You should also possess proven skills in cloud engineering, networking, Linux internals, and databases. The ability to sustainably scale systems through tooling and automation, coupled with excellent communication skills, is expected. A results-driven mindset, thriving in an agile, collaborative, start-up environment, is key.
