This position is integral to the entire test life cycle, encompassing the design, development, maintenance, and execution of comprehensive test cases. GE Healthcare, a global leader in medical technology, is dedicated to improving lives. Our LSS business specializes in cost-effective and elegant anesthesia and infant care equipment, supported by cloud-based, mobile, and embedded software solutions.
This role offers the opportunity to innovate within a dynamic environment, contributing to both new product introductions and ongoing maintenance programs. You will be instrumental in shaping the future of medical technology by ensuring the highest standards of product performance and safety. Embrace a culture where your contributions matter and help build a healthier world.
Spearhead the creation and implementation of intricate verification plans and strategies for both novel and established medical devices and systems. Develop and maintain sophisticated test benches, verification environments, and automated test scripts utilizing leading industry tools and methodologies. Conduct thorough functional, performance, safety, and reliability testing across hardware and software components, subsystems, and fully integrated systems.
Collaborate extensively with design, software, and systems engineering teams to grasp requirements, anticipate potential issues, and guarantee testability. Analyze test results, pinpoint defects, perform root cause analysis, and liaise with development teams for prompt issue resolution. Establish and refine continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines specifically for verification processes.
Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior verification engineers, fostering a team environment focused on excellence and continuous learning. Actively contribute to the enhancement of verification processes, tools, and best practices. Participate in critical design reviews, FMEAs, and other quality assurance initiatives. Ensure strict adherence to relevant industry standards, including IEC 60601 and ISO 13485, alongside internal quality procedures.
A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or a closely related field is required. We seek candidates with a minimum of 7 years of experience in verification engineering, with substantial exposure to the medical device sector or other rigorously regulated industries. Proven leadership experience in guiding verification efforts for complex systems integrating both hardware and software is essential.
Expertise in developing detailed test plans, test cases, and procedures is critical. Proficiency in at least one scripting language such as Python, Perl, or MATLAB for test automation is mandatory. Familiarity with diverse verification methodologies like white-box, black-box, and gray-box testing is expected. Experience with test management tools including Jira, Azure DevOps, or ALM is beneficial.
A robust understanding of embedded systems, digital and analog electronics, and real-time operating systems is necessary. Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and debugging capabilities are paramount. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are required to facilitate effective collaboration across various cross-functional teams. Experience with simulation tools and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing, as well as knowledge of medical device regulatory requirements (e.g., FDA, CE Marking), are considered highly advantageous.
