We are seeking a Lead Software Engineer (Java Developer) to drive software engineering projects and deliver innovative solutions. This role involves researching technical alternatives, ensuring daily team activities meet SLA requirements, and contributing to the creation of high-quality, cost-effective, and rapidly deployable software.
Lead major software engineering projects and complex assignments with significant business impact. Develop innovative, cost-effective, and high-quality solutions with a focus on rapid time-to-market. Oversee the team's daily system development and maintenance activities to meet Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
Collaborate with business and technical partners to identify opportunities, define value and ROI, and manage risks and constraints. Contribute to overall strategy and resolve complex issues within your area of expertise. Develop strategic technical plans and create architecture proposals.
Serve as a subject matter expert in planning, designing, and implementing technical solutions. Create solution definitions and architectures. Assist management in business case development and scenario planning. Present findings and recommendations to management and stakeholders.
Examine and research commercially available and emerging industry technologies, frameworks, and applications, providing recommendations to management. Conduct Proofs of Concept (PoCs) to aid technology selection. Proactively maintain solution and technology roadmaps.
Partner with Project Managers to implement evolving team processes and solutions. Provide detailed cost and time estimates for business solutions, define technical scope, and manage project scope throughout its lifecycle. Establish quality methodologies and metrics, and lead Quality Assurance and Quality Control processes.
Lead and guide the team through all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC). Manage production incident and problem resolution, including root cause analysis and remediation. Mentor and coach team members, providing training and Brownbag sessions on new technologies and frameworks. Assist in selecting technical resources for projects.
Ensure adherence to defined standards and identify opportunities for enhancement. Develop documentation templates and enforce documentation creation throughout the solution development lifecycle. Ensure compliance with audit requirements by educating the team and integrating compliance into the SDLC. Represent the team during compliance audits.
A Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience is required. The ideal candidate will possess 5 to 8 years of relevant experience, with a strong preference for 5 to 8 years of experience in delivering secure solutions within the Financial Services Sector.
Advanced knowledge and a deep understanding of Software Engineering Concepts and Methodologies are essential. Candidates should demonstrate proficiency in Mastercard Core Competencies.
Key abilities include being high-energy, detail-oriented, proactive, and capable of performing under pressure in an independent environment. A high degree of initiative and self-motivation is expected to drive results. Strong verbal and written communication, relationship building, collaboration, and organizational skills are crucial.
Demonstrated ability to quickly learn and implement new technologies, frameworks, and tools is necessary. The role requires supporting multiple concurrent activities and interfacing effectively with both external and internal resources as part of a diverse, geographically distributed project team.
