Join Mastercard's Software Builders Experience (MSBX) team, a vital part of Team ONE, focused on enhancing the developer experience for over 6000 engineers globally. We build and manage essential services and tooling, including cloud-agnostic infrastructure provisioning, standard CI/CD pipelines, developer environments, and application frameworks. Our goal is to empower engineering teams to deliver innovative payment solutions efficiently and securely, from initial concept to market launch.
This role is crucial in enabling Mastercard developers to build, test, and deploy high-quality, secure code, ultimately accelerating business value realization. You will contribute to a culture of continuous improvement and technological excellence within a dynamic, globally distributed team.
As a Lead Software Engineer, you will drive the design and implementation of high-performance, scalable microservice capabilities using Java, Go, or Python. You'll champion best practices in automated testing, code quality, delivery, and monitoring.
Your role involves mentoring engineers, collaborating with architects and product owners, and advocating for Mastercard's engineering principles and security guidelines. You will act as a Subject Matter Expert for SDLC initiatives, ensuring efficient and secure development from ideation to production.
Additionally, you will foster an awesome developer experience, actively participate in the Software Engineering Guild, and ensure adherence to all development and security standards.
We are seeking candidates proficient in Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) and Object-Oriented Analysis and Design (OOAD) with Java (JDK 8+). Experience with Go or Python is a significant plus.
Essential technical skills include knowledge of Tomcat, Spring Boot, Spring Security, Hibernate, and RESTful microservices architecture. Familiarity with SQL, multi-threading, message queuing, distributed systems, and design patterns is required. A strong understanding of cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP) and expertise in automated unit testing frameworks like JUnit are vital.
Fluency with Git and Jenkins, along with the ability to define and implement Continuous Delivery/Deployment pipelines, is crucial. Experience with container technologies, regulated environments (PCI DSS, GDPR), performance testing tools (JMeter, Gatling), and inner-source projects is highly valued. DevSecOps/CI-CD and Site Reliability experience for distributed systems is considered an advantage. A Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering field is expected.
