We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Software Engineer to architect, design, and develop our scaled distribution engine within the B&MI C&D team. This role is crucial for advancing our platform's data, AI, and foundational capabilities, enabling faster product development through interoperable data and reusable AI services. You will be instrumental in scaling and optimizing shared distribution channels, including APIs and our private data marketplace.

As a Lead Software Engineer at Mastercard Services, you will be a senior technical leader and hands-on contributor to a sophisticated data distribution platform. Your primary focus will be modernizing the platform and delivering scalable, secure, and cloud-native capabilities for global business users.

Key responsibilities include leading the technical design and execution of complex, data-intensive software solutions. You will drive the technical strategy for modernization initiatives, transitioning legacy systems to modern, API-driven architectures. This involves defining system architecture, non-functional requirements (scalability, performance, security), and driving end-to-end technical delivery. You will also serve as a hands-on developer, coding, testing, and debugging production-quality software.

Furthermore, you will collaborate closely with product managers, architects, data scientists, and QA teams to translate business needs into robust technical solutions. Leading globally distributed engineering teams, you'll ensure alignment on design decisions and delivery milestones. Driving architecture and code reviews, you will champion engineering excellence, continuous improvement, and high-quality delivery across teams. Mentoring junior engineers and navigating complex initiatives with strong problem-solving skills are also integral to this role.

We are looking for a seasoned Lead Software Engineer with a minimum of 10 years of experience in delivering scalable, high-performance, and reliable software within an agile framework.

Essential expertise includes designing and building distributed systems, microservices, RESTful APIs, and cloud-native applications. A strong background with data-intensive applications and analytics platforms is required; experience with Databricks is highly desirable. Proven ability in leading system architecture, high-level design, detailed design, and the end-to-end technical delivery of complex software solutions is crucial. Experience driving technology modernization, including cloud adoption and platform transformation, is also key.

Hands-on experience with AWS and/or Azure, CI/CD, containerization, Kubernetes, and observability tools is expected. Demonstrated technical leadership, influencing architectural decisions, driving technical strategy, and leading large cross-team initiatives are vital. The ideal candidate possesses excellent collaboration and communication skills, with a proven ability to work effectively across diverse teams. Experience leading globally distributed teams across multiple regions and time zones is essential. A passion for mentoring engineers and strong problem-solving skills to navigate ambiguity and drive results are required. A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field is necessary, with an advanced degree being a plus.
