We are seeking a passionate, collaborative, and skilled Lead Software Engineer to join our Franchise and Legal Solutions (FLS) program. This program enhances the franchise foundation by addressing evolving business needs, managing the customer lifecycle, and enabling scalable growth for partners. It simplifies doing business with Mastercard and optimizes operations through world-class training, analytics, and risk management. The FLS program resolves customer disputes and security incidents using data-driven insights and investigative intelligence, ensuring balance, integrity, and security across Mastercard's ecosystem.

Lead software engineering initiatives, driving the development and delivery of advanced software solutions. You will be a hands-on developer, crafting high-quality, secure, modular, functional, and testable code. Responsibilities include researching alternative technical solutions for evolving business needs, managing overall cloud architecture, and exploring new technologies to ensure the platform evolves with business demands.
Create innovative, cost-effective, high-quality solutions with a focus on rapid time-to-market. You'll apply design principles such as DRY, Single Responsibility, and SOLID. Lead daily system development and maintenance activities to meet service level agreements (SLAs), driving measurable improvements in software maintenance, operations, and runtime characteristics.
Collaborate with business and technical partners to identify and scope opportunities, assessing potential value, ROI, risks, benefits, and constraints. Develop strategic technical plans and architecture proposals, acting as a subject matter expert to lead planning, design, and implementation. Partner with Technical Project Managers to implement processes that align with team and solution needs.
Ensure comprehensive test coverage across Unit, System/Integration, and Performance Testing. Conduct Quality Inspections and Walkthroughs throughout the SDLC, including Requirements, Architecture, Design, Code, and Security Reviews, to uphold Mastercard standards. Support the collection and reporting of project and software metrics. Actively seek opportunities to enhance standards and improve process efficiency.
Mentor and guide team members through all SDLC phases. Successfully lead production incident and problem management, identifying root causes and implementing permanent fixes. Develop documentation templates and enforce documentation practices throughout the development lifecycle. Ensure compliance with Audit Requirements by educating the team and integrating requirements into the SDLC, and represent the team during audits.
Advocate for principles through external speaking engagements. Possess comprehensive knowledge of team architecture, making trade-offs between short-term and long-term needs. Provide input into performance appraisal processes for junior employees.
You should possess strong proficiency in object-oriented design and programming, with expertise in Java, Spring, Spring Boot, and Microservices. Experience with REST API development, Spring, JPA, Hibernate, RDBMS, Oracle, and JDBC is essential.
A solid understanding of cloud platforms such as PCF/AWS/Azure or similar is required. Experience in delivering secure solutions within the Financial Services Sector is highly preferred. Advanced knowledge and a deep understanding of Software Engineering concepts and methodologies are a must.
We are looking for individuals with strong verbal and written communication, exceptional collaboration, and excellent organizational skills. The ability to quickly learn and implement new technologies, frameworks, and tools, while managing multiple concurrent activities, is crucial. Adaptability in a fast-changing environment is also key. An added advantage would be hands-on experience with front-end technologies like React JS and/or Angular, along with familiarity with Jenkins CI/CD and Tomcat.
