Job description

Mastercard is seeking an experienced Lead Software Engineer to join the Franchise and Legal Solutions (FLS) program. This role involves enhancing and maintaining the franchise foundation by understanding evolving business needs and providing customer-focused lifecycle management. The program ensures scaled growth for partners, simplifies business interactions with Mastercard, and optimizes operations through training, analytics, and risk management. It also addresses customer disputes and security events using data-driven insights and investigative intelligence, promoting balance, integrity, and security across Mastercard's ecosystem.

We are looking for a passionate, collaborative, and seasoned software engineer who excels at communicating with business and IT stakeholders across all levels. If you are an innovator eager to adopt and study the latest technologies to solve complex business challenges, and a leader who inspires teams to think creatively and communicate effectively, Mastercard invites you to join us.

Responsibilities

As a Lead Software Engineer, you will spearhead software engineering projects, focusing on the development and delivery of robust software solutions. You'll be a hands-on developer, writing high-quality, secure, modular, functional, and testable code. Responsibilities include researching alternative technical solutions for evolving business needs, managing cloud architecture, and exploring new technologies to keep the platform agile. You will develop innovative, cost-effective, high-quality solutions with a faster time to market, adhering to design principles like DRY, Single Responsibility, and SOLID.

You will lead daily system development and maintenance to meet service level agreements (SLAs), driving measurable improvements in software characteristics. Collaborating with business and technical partners, you'll identify and scope opportunities, assess value and ROI, and identify risks and benefits. You'll develop strategic technical plans and architecture proposals, acting as a subject matter expert in the planning, design, and implementation of technical solutions. Partnering with Technical Project Managers, you will implement processes per team and solution needs, and ensure adequate test coverage across Unit, System/Integration, and Performance Testing.

This role involves conducting Quality Inspections and Walkthroughs throughout the SDLC, including Requirements, Architecture, Design, Code, and Security Reviews, to ensure compliance with MasterCard standards. You will also support the collection and reporting of project and software metrics, actively seeking opportunities to enhance standards and improve process efficiency. Mentoring and guiding team members, leading production incident and problem management, and ensuring permanent correction of root causes are key aspects. You will develop documentation templates, enforce documentation development, and ensure compliance with Audit Requirements by educating the team and integrating compliance into the SDLC. You will represent the team during Compliance Audits, advocate principles through speaking engagements, and make informed trade-offs between short-term and long-term needs. Additionally, you will provide input into the performance appraisal process for junior employees.

Qualifications

This role requires strong Object-Oriented Design and programming skills, with expertise in Java, Spring, Spring Boot, and Microservices. Experience in REST API development is essential, along with proficiency in Spring, JPA, Hibernate, RDBMS, Oracle, and JDBC. Hands-on experience with front-end technologies like React JS and/or Angular is a significant advantage. Familiarity with Jenkins CI/CD and Sonar integration, as well as Tomcat, is expected.

Experience with cloud platforms such as PCF, AWS, Azure, or similar is required. Knowledge of Pivotal Cloud Foundry or other cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) is preferred. Delivering secure solutions within the Financial Services Sector is also a plus. Advanced knowledge and understanding of Software Engineering concepts and methodologies are mandatory. You should possess strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills, with the ability to quickly learn and implement new technologies, frameworks, and tools. Supporting multiple concurrent activities and adapting to a fast-changing environment are crucial for success in this position.
