Mastercard is seeking a Lead Software Engineer to drive innovation within its Commercial Solutions organization. This role is pivotal in shaping next-generation financial platforms, focusing on architecture, scalability, and engineering excellence.

Lead the architecture and system design for large-scale, distributed cloud platforms, prioritizing scalability, resiliency, and security. Design and evolve microservices, APIs, and event-driven architectures. Translate business requirements into robust platform solutions and technical strategies.

Own non-functional requirements such as performance, reliability, fault tolerance, and observability. Drive the adoption of cloud-native patterns, 12-factor principles, and domain-driven design. Build and enhance high-performance full-stack applications using Java, Angular, and cloud platforms.

Establish and enforce engineering standards for code quality, security, and performance. Lead design and code reviews, and champion architecture governance. Drive CI/CD, DevSecOps, and automation practices. Lead the development of modern Angular-based architectures, including micro-frontend and component-driven patterns, defining and building reusable UI components and scalable design systems.

Architect and integrate AI-powered capabilities for enhanced user experiences. Drive the adoption of AI-assisted development tools and ensure responsible AI practices. Provide technical mentorship to elevate engineering capabilities, influence technology strategy, and collaborate with product and BizOps teams to align roadmaps.

A strong foundation in computer science fundamentals, algorithms, and system design is essential. Proven experience in building large-scale distributed systems and microservices architectures is required.

Deep expertise in Java (Spring Boot) and backend engineering, coupled with a strong understanding of API design, event-driven systems, and messaging frameworks. Experience with cloud platforms like PCF and Kubernetes, and solid knowledge of relational databases (Oracle) and data modeling at scale are necessary.

Expertise in performance engineering, resiliency, and scalability patterns, along with hands-on experience in CI/CD, Git, automated testing, and release pipelines. Familiarity with observability, monitoring, and production support is also key.

For UI/Angular expertise, deep knowledge of Angular, TypeScript, and state management (NgRx) is expected. Experience with micro-frontends and component-driven architectures, along with strong understanding of performance optimization, lazy loading, and rendering strategies is beneficial. Familiarity with UI testing frameworks like Cypress is a plus.

Experience integrating AI/ML models via APIs or enterprise workflows, familiarity with GenAI/LLMs and AI-driven product capabilities, and an understanding of data pipelines and model deployment patterns are valuable. The ability to apply AI to enhance user experience and operational efficiency is sought.
