This Lead Principal Platform Software Engineer role drives critical cross-group platform initiatives, significantly enhancing reliability, performance, and compliance. The position involves proactively identifying and resolving complex distributed systems challenges, alongside defining strategies for compatibility and deprecation to minimize downstream risks. Key responsibilities include establishing shared observability frameworks, Service Level Objectives (SLOs), and capacity models that benefit multiple teams.

Furthermore, this role defines architectural guardrails, security controls, and reference implementations in close partnership with SRE and security teams. Collaboration is central, ensuring alignment across business units and with customer goals.

Establish group-wide guardrails for platform interoperability, security, and client library governance. Own cross-group programs impacting reliability and performance, such as identity, configuration, and API gateway standards. Develop and implement shared observability frameworks and rollout policies, managing deprecation risks. Lead the design, development, and optimization of software solutions across the entire lifecycle. Act as a subject matter expert, guiding new features, enhancements, and architectural decisions. Drive process, architecture, and code reviews to foster continuous improvement. Troubleshoot and resolve highly complex software and API integration issues. Implement innovative strategies for API versioning, lifecycle management, and interoperability. Provide technical leadership and coaching in software architecture, best practices, and organizational decision-making.

Proven experience leading complex platform initiatives with significant impact on reliability and performance. Expertise in distributed systems, API gateways, and observability frameworks. Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle, architecture, and secure coding practices. Demonstrated ability to influence cross-functional leaders and stakeholders.
