As a Lead Platform Engineer, you will architect and develop Chef cookbooks, recipes, and policy files for automated configuration management across diverse environments. You'll construct and manage Chef Automate orchestration pipelines, engineer reusable automation frameworks, and integrate Chef with critical CI/CD tools, secrets management, and governance controls. Implementing automated testing with Test Kitchen and InSpec, you'll collaborate with cross-functional teams to enforce security standards and configuration baselines. Your role will involve supporting Infrastructure as Code provisioning and troubleshooting complex automation challenges, contributing to exciting platform engineering initiatives like self-service catalogs and GitOps workflows.
This position requires 5-8 years of experience in DevOps, platform engineering, or infrastructure automation, with a strong command of Chef Infra, including cookbook development and policy files. Proven experience managing large-scale configuration management environments and a solid understanding of Linux systems administration are essential. Familiarity with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or GCP, and on-prem virtualization is expected. You should possess strong scripting skills in Ruby (preferred), Python, Bash, or PowerShell, and proficiency with CI/CD tooling such as GitHub Actions or Jenkins. A deep understanding of Git workflows and troubleshooting complex hybrid environment issues is also crucial.
