This role focuses on designing, deploying, and operating robust Kubernetes platforms, ensuring scalability, resilience, and security.

As a Sr. Kubernetes ISTIO Engineer, you will architect and manage Istio service mesh for secure and reliable service communication across multi-cloud environments. You'll implement advanced traffic management, optimize cluster performance, and enforce stringent security policies. Building and operating observability platforms and automating infrastructure lifecycles are key responsibilities.

Design and deploy scalable, resilient, and secure Kubernetes platforms on AWS EKS and Oracle OKE. Architect and manage Istio service mesh for multi-cluster and multi-cloud environments. Implement advanced traffic management patterns like canary and blue/green deployments. Optimize cluster performance through autoscaling and resource management. Enforce security using mTLS and zero-trust networking principles. Manage Istio ingress/egress gateways and Envoy proxy configurations.

Build and operate observability platforms using tools like Prometheus, Grafana, and Kiali. Troubleshoot complex Kubernetes and service mesh issues. Automate infrastructure and mesh lifecycle management using Terraform, Helm, and GitOps. Define and drive SLOs and SLIs to enhance reliability. Enable platform self-service and promote best practices.

Requires hands-on experience in Kubernetes platform engineering with Istio and Envoy in production. Strong knowledge of AWS EKS and Oracle OKE, including cluster architecture and operations, is essential. Proficiency with Terraform, Helm, and GitOps tools like ArgoCD/Flux is required. Solid understanding of cloud networking, including VPCs, CNIs, and load balancers, is needed. Experience implementing mTLS, zero-trust networking, and identity integrations is crucial.

Hands-on experience with observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, and Kiali is necessary. Strong scripting skills in Python, Bash, or Go for automation are valued. Experience integrating Kubernetes and Istio with CI/CD and DevOps practices is expected. Exposure to multi-cluster/multi-cloud environments and container security tools is a plus. Must be self-driven with excellent stakeholder communication skills.
