Join our dynamic team as a Product Software Engineer II, focusing on Observability & Platform. You'll develop cutting-edge features for observability and self-service platforms across Entertainment & ESPN engineering.

This role offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience with Python, AWS, and modern observability practices. You'll collaborate with senior engineers within a structure comprising three key teams: Technical Operations, Reliability Platforms, and Observability & Platform. Each team plays a vital role in ensuring production readiness, enhancing reliability, and empowering engineering teams with robust self-service tools.

You will contribute to critical areas like telemetry, instrumentation, alerting standards, and internal tooling. A strong understanding of managing large-scale, 24x7 applications is essential. Your foundational Python skills and experience with AWS, systems programming, and the software development lifecycle will be key to success.

- Develop features for telemetry pipelines, dashboards, and self-service tooling, ensuring production-quality code and strong test coverage. - Build and maintain backend APIs and integrations in Python to support platform services. - Contribute to IAM permission workflows and cloud automation with a focus on security. - Assist in maintaining operational data pipelines and reliability reporting. - Instrument services and help tune alerts and dashboards for optimal performance. - Participate in the on-call rotation for platform services, growing expertise through collaboration and code review.

- A minimum of 3 years of professional software engineering experience is required. - Proven Python development skills with an emphasis on writing maintainable, tested code. - Foundational experience with AWS and Unix/Linux environments is necessary. - Exposure to monitoring and observability tools such as Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana, or CloudWatch. - Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, Docker, and containerization concepts. - Excellent written and verbal communication skills, coupled with a strong desire to learn platform engineering practices.
