Job description

Capgemini Invent's Manufacturing Industry Practice is seeking a seasoned leader to spearhead Industrial AI initiatives within India's manufacturing sector. This pivotal role involves owning the complete lifecycle of Industrial AI engagements, from solution design to delivery oversight. You will translate complex plant and business challenges into robust, scalable AI architectures, develop compelling proposals, and ensure the integrity of solutions throughout their delivery.

The demand for AI-driven operational transformation in manufacturing is experiencing significant growth. This is a critical, client-facing position designed for a senior professional with demonstrated expertise in Industrial AI strategy, architecture, OT/IT integration, and enterprise-scale deployments. Prior hands-on operating experience in the Steel or Cement industries is essential.

This role uniquely bridges manufacturing, consulting, and technology. Collaborating with Capgemini's extensive capabilities in manufacturing, data, AI, engineering, and operational technology, you will shape multiple concurrent project pursuits, lead intensive client solution workshops, and define comprehensive architectures that span from the factory floor to the enterprise level. Your responsibility will extend to overseeing delivery, ensuring value realization from initial solution design.

Responsibilities

As a senior, market-facing Industrial AI solution leader, you will serve manufacturing clients across India, with a focus on preferred sectors such as Steel, Cement, Metals & Mining, and other process industries. You will expertly lead client-facing solution workshops and cultivate strong, trusted relationships with C-suite executives, operations leaders, plant managers, process engineers, and technology stakeholders.

Your responsibilities include shaping multiple concurrent pursuits and proposals. This involves crafting persuasive solution narratives, developing commercial strategies, and defining implementation roadmaps aimed at improving pursuit conversion rates and win ratios. While originating new client logos or directly owning annual sales targets is not the primary focus, your contribution to strengthening market credibility in Industrial AI through participation in industry forums, client workshops, practice asset development, and thought leadership is vital.

You will also contribute to the development of industry forums, client workshops, practice assets, and thought leadership initiatives, thereby enhancing our market standing in the Industrial AI domain.

Qualifications

We are looking for experienced professionals with a minimum of 15 years of combined experience, encompassing both hands-on industry operations and consulting or technology leadership. Mandatory manufacturing domain experience is required, with a preference for Steel, Cement, Metals & Mining.

Proven experience in client-facing ownership of end-to-end AI solution architecture and delivery within manufacturing settings is crucial, including successful production deployments and scaling beyond initial pilot phases. Strong expertise is needed in OT/IT integration, manufacturing data platforms (historians, IIoT platforms, industrial DataOps, cloud data platforms), digital twins, and AI/ML deployment architectures (both edge and cloud, including MLOps).

Direct India-market client exposure, including conducting solution workshops and engaging in executive-level conversations, is essential. Experience leading large, complex transformation programs as the primary engagement or program lead, rather than solely as a contributor, is highly valued. Backgrounds in consulting, technology services, industrial technology, or similar client-solutioning environments are well-suited for this role.

Key attributes include the ability to engage credibly at all levels, from the boardroom to the plant floor, effectively translating between C-suite business priorities, operational realities, and technical architecture. Strong technical fluency across AI/ML, industrial automation, and data architecture is necessary to guide and challenge architects and data scientists. Excellent CXO-level relationship management, executive presence, and storytelling skills are paramount. Commercial acumen in deal shaping, pricing, business-case development, and engagement profitability is also critical. An entrepreneurial mindset is encouraged to build new offerings and practice areas.
