Job description

Join AWS Infrastructure Services and play a vital role in powering the global cloud. Our team is responsible for the complete lifecycle of AWS data center infrastructure, ensuring continuous innovation and availability for our customers. We tackle complex supply chain challenges and are seeking dedicated individuals to contribute to our mission.

You'll become part of a dynamic, cross-functional team encompassing software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, and operations experts. Collaboration across AWS is key as we uphold the highest standards of safety and security, delivering immense capacity at optimal cost. Experience an empowering and inclusive culture that encourages bold ideas and drives them to fruition.

Responsibilities

As a Rack Lifecycle Tech, you will be instrumental in transforming capacity plans into operational reality on the data center floor. Your core responsibilities include the precise execution of physical rack installations, structured cabling, and decommissioning activities. You will meticulously follow standard operating procedures (SOPs), escalate any deviations, and ensure every rack is installed to specification, fully documented, and handed off without issues.

Key duties involve executing rack installations, including power and cable management according to AWS standards. You'll perform structured cabling tasks, conduct testing, and validate results. Managing work orders, updating workflow tools, and performing quality checks on completed work are also essential. Additionally, you'll support material handling, maintain inventory records, and ensure accurate documentation for all lifecycle phases, from installation to decommissioning, including secure media destruction and asset recovery.

Qualifications

We are seeking a detail-oriented Rack Lifecycle Tech with a strong technical aptitude. A minimum of two years in computer hardware troubleshooting and repair is required, along with at least one year of computer networking experience. A high school diploma or equivalent is necessary.

Preferred qualifications include experience in rack decommissioning processes, such as device wiping, media destruction, and asset recovery procedures. The ability to handle customer interactions effectively during problem resolution and perform efficiently under pressure is also beneficial. Familiarity with data center operations and physical infrastructure management will set you apart.
