Join the AWS Infrastructure Services team, the backbone of the cloud, responsible for the global infrastructure that powers AWS. We are seeking a meticulous and technically adept Rack Lifecycle Tech to be a key player on our Rack Lifecycle Team. This role is integral to transforming capacity plans into tangible operational reality on the data center floor.
Your contribution is vital to ensuring AWS delivers reliable, safe, and cost-effective infrastructure capacity to our customers. You'll be part of a dynamic environment where innovative solutions are driven by a diverse group of engineers and specialists.
Execute precise rack installations, including physical placement, power, grounding, and cable management according to AWS standards. Perform structured cabling tasks, fiber/copper terminations, and patch panel connections. Conduct OTDR and power testing, escalating any deviations promptly. Manage work orders, update workflow tools, and conduct quality checks on completed cabling. Identify and escalate issues, blockers, or SOP deviations. Support deployment readiness through site walks and material staging.
Handle incoming rack and hardware deliveries, verify against BOM, and maintain accurate inventory records. Complete all necessary as-built documentation, port maps, and test records. Execute physical rack decommissioning, including asset de-tagging and extraction. Perform device wipe and media destruction in compliance with AWS policies. Accurately update DCIM/CMDB and IPAM records post-decommissioning.
A high school diploma or equivalent is required, alongside a minimum of two years in computer hardware troubleshooting and repair. Candidates must also possess at least one year of experience in computer networking. While not strictly required, familiarity with rack decommissioning processes, including device wipe and media destruction, is preferred. This role demands attention to detail and adherence to strict safety and operational protocols.
