Join AWS Infrastructure Services as a Rack Lifecycle Tech and play a crucial role in operating the global cloud infrastructure. This hands-on position involves the physical installation, cabling, and decommissioning of server racks within our data centers. You'll transform capacity plans into operational reality, ensuring the highest standards of safety and security.

As part of a diverse team, you'll collaborate with hardware and network engineers, logistics specialists, and operations managers. Execute precise rack installations, including physical placement, power, and grounding, adhering strictly to AWS standards and MOPs. Perform structured cabling, fiber/copper terminations, and comprehensive cable management. Conduct OTDR and power testing, escalating any failures promptly. Follow all EHS protocols and lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures meticulously.

Manage work orders and tasks efficiently, maintaining accurate updates in workflow management tools. Perform rigorous quality checks on completed cabling, verifying port maps and updating documentation. Identify and escalate issues or deviations from SOPs immediately. Support deployment readiness through site walks and material staging.

Receive, verify, and stage incoming hardware deliveries, reconciling against BOMs. Maintain accurate site inventory records and support cycle count activities. Complete all required as-built documentation, port maps, and test result records before handoff. Update CMDB/DCIM and IPAM records post-installation or decommission.

Execute rack decommissioning tasks, including cable removal, power disconnects, and asset de-tagging. Perform secure device wiping and media destruction in compliance with AWS policies. Sort, label, and stage recovered assets for RMA, redeployment, or disposal. Update DCIM/CMDB and IPAM records post-decommission to reflect accurate capacity changes.

Adhere to all site-level SOPs, quality standards, and governance frameworks. Complete required safety training and certifications. Contribute to continuous improvement by identifying quality issues and suggesting process enhancements. Utilize Rack Lifecycle Team tooling for work recording and data integrity.

Coordinate with DCO, DCEO, Network Engineering, and facilities teams during deployment or decom activities. Participate in daily stand-ups, communicating task status and blockers clearly. Provide timely updates and flag risks or delays immediately.

A minimum of 1 year of experience in computer networking and Linux operating systems is required. Candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field. Practical experience in computer hardware troubleshooting and repair is essential.

The role requires the ability to lift and rack equipment weighing up to 40 pounds. Experience with data center environments, including racking, stacking, cable management, and hot/cold aisle containment, is highly preferred. Familiarity with rack decommissioning, device wipe, and media destruction procedures is also beneficial.

Additionally, preferred qualifications include the ability to work effectively in cramped spaces or elevated locations while adhering to safety guidelines, and experience managing priorities through a ticketing system. Strong customer-facing skills during problem resolution and efficient operation under pressure are valued.
