Job description

Join the AWS Infrastructure Services team, the backbone of the cloud, responsible for the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We ensure customers have uninterrupted access to innovation by supporting all AWS data centers and the extensive equipment within them.

As a detail-oriented Rack Lifecycle Tech, you'll be a crucial hands-on executor within the Rack Lifecycle Team. Your primary focus will be the physical installation, cabling, handoff, and decommissioning of racks, transforming capacity plans into operational reality on the data center floor.

Responsibilities

Execute precise rack installations, including physical placement, power connections, grounding, and meticulous cable management, adhering to AWS standards and MOPs. Perform structured cabling, fiber/copper terminations, and patch panel connections with a focus on labeling and dressing to specification.

Conduct OTDR and power testing, validating results against acceptance thresholds. Support rack lifecycle operations by executing work orders, maintaining accurate status updates in workflow management tools, and performing quality checks on completed cabling. Identify and escalate any issues or deviations from SOPs promptly.

Assist with material handling and supply chain support, including receiving, verifying, and staging deliveries. Maintain accurate site inventory records and support cycle count activities. Ensure all required as-built documentation, port maps, and test result records are completed accurately before handoff.

Qualifications

A minimum of 1 year of experience in computer networking and Linux operating systems is required. Possess a Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field. Ability to lift and rack equipment up to 40 pounds is essential.

Familiarity with computer hardware troubleshooting and repair is expected. Experience with cabling infrastructure best practices, data center environments, and rack decommissioning procedures is preferred. Candidates should also be comfortable working in cramped spaces or at elevated locations while adhering to health and safety guidelines.
