Join the AWS Infrastructure Services team, the backbone of the cloud, responsible for designing, planning, and operating AWS global infrastructure. We are seeking a meticulous and technically proficient Rack Lifecycle Tech to ensure the seamless physical installation, cabling, and decommissioning of racks within our data centers. This hands-on role is crucial for transforming capacity plans into operational reality, guaranteeing the reliability, safety, and cost-effectiveness of AWS services for our customers.

As part of a diverse team of engineers and specialists, you will collaborate across AWS to uphold the highest standards of safety and security. You'll contribute to an inclusive culture that encourages bold ideas and empowers individuals to see them through to completion, playing a foundational role in delivering infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost.

Execute precise rack installations, including physical placement, power connections, grounding, and cable management, adhering strictly to AWS standards and MOPs. Perform structured cabling tasks such as fiber/copper terminations, patch panel connections, and labeling. Conduct and validate OTDR and power testing, promptly escalating any failures. Manage rack lifecycle operations by executing work orders, performing quality checks on cabling, and updating documentation in CMDB/DCIM. Handle material receiving, verification, and staging, maintaining accurate inventory records for deployed materials. Execute rack decommissioning activities, including asset de-tagging and the secure disposal of recovered assets, ensuring accurate record updates in DCIM/CMDB and IPAM. Uphold all quality, safety, and compliance standards, participating in EHS audits and contributing to process improvements. Coordinate effectively with cross-functional teams like DCO and Network Engineering during deployment and decom activities, providing clear and timely task status updates.

A High School diploma or equivalent is required. Candidates must possess at least 2 years of experience in computer hardware troubleshooting and repair, alongside a minimum of 1 year of experience in computer networking.

Preferred qualifications include demonstrated experience in effectively managing customer interactions during problem resolution and maintaining operational efficiency under pressure. Familiarity with rack decommissioning processes, including device wiping, media destruction, and asset recovery procedures, is also highly advantageous.
