Join the AWS Infrastructure Services team, the backbone of the global cloud. We are seeking a meticulous and technically adept Rack Lifecycle Tech to ensure the seamless operation of our data centers. This role is crucial for transforming capacity plans into tangible, operational infrastructure.

This is a hands-on, individual contributor position focused on the physical installation, cabling, and decommissioning of racks. You will be instrumental in maintaining the efficiency and reliability of AWS's global infrastructure.

Execute precise rack installations, including physical placement, power connections, grounding, and cable management according to AWS standards.

Perform structured cabling, ensuring fiber/copper terminations, patch panel connections, and labeling meet stringent specifications. Validate results with OTDR and power testing, promptly escalating any deviations.

Manage work orders and tasks efficiently, maintaining accurate status updates in workflow management tools. Conduct quality checks on completed work, verifying port maps and updating documentation.

Handle material receiving, verification, and staging, maintaining accurate site inventory records. Support cycle counts and identify potential inventory shortfalls.

Complete all required as-built documentation, port maps, and test records for seamless handoffs. Accurately update CMDB/DCIM and IPAM records post-installation or decommission.

Execute rack decommissioning activities per assigned MOPs, including cable removal, power disconnects, asset de-tagging, and rack extraction. Perform device wipes and media destruction in compliance with security policies.

Adhere strictly to all site-level SOPs, quality standards, and governance frameworks. Complete required safety training and participate in EHS audits and safety briefings.

Coordinate effectively with DCO, DCEO, Network Engineering, and facilities teams. Participate in daily stand-ups and pre-work briefings, communicating task status, blockers, and schedule adherence clearly.

Possess at least one year of experience in computer networking and Linux operating systems. A Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field is required.

Demonstrated experience in computer hardware troubleshooting and repair is essential. You must be capable of lifting and racking equipment up to 40 pounds.

Preferred qualifications include experience in cramped spaces or elevated locations while adhering to safety guidelines. Familiarity with managing work via ticketing systems and data center environments, including racking, stacking, and cable management, is highly advantageous.

Experience with cabling infrastructure best practices, rack decommissioning, device wipe, media destruction, and asset recovery procedures will set candidates apart. Effective customer interaction during problem resolution and operating under pressure are also valued.
