This role is for a detail-oriented Rack Lifecycle Tech within our Infrastructure Operations team. As an individual contributor, you will directly execute the physical installation, cabling, handover, and decommissioning of racks, transforming capacity plans into operational reality on the data center floor.

Execute precise rack installations, including physical placement, power connections, grounding, and comprehensive cable management following AWS standards and MOPs. Perform structured cabling tasks such as fiber/copper terminations, patch panel connections, and accurate labeling. Conduct OTDR and power testing, validating results against acceptance thresholds and escalating any failures. Adhere strictly to all EHS protocols, LOTO procedures, and safe work practices during all installation activities. Manage work orders and tasks within workflow management tools, maintaining accurate status updates. Conduct thorough quality checks on completed cabling work, including port map verification and updating as-built documentation. Identify and promptly escalate any issues, blockers, or deviations from SOPs to your team lead or manager. Support deployment wave readiness through site walks, material staging, and tool preparation. Receive, verify, and stage incoming hardware deliveries, reconciling against BOMs and flagging discrepancies. Maintain accurate site inventory records for cables, optics, and consumables. Complete all required as-built documentation, port maps, and test result records before handoff. Update CMDB/DCIM and IPAM records accurately post-installation or decommission. Execute physical decommissioning activities, including cable removal, power disconnects, asset de-tagging, and rack extraction. Perform device wipe and media destruction in compliance with AWS policies. Sort, label, and stage recovered assets for RMA, redeployment, or secure disposal. Validate that reclaimed space, power, and cooling capacity are accurately recorded. Adhere to all site-level SOPs, quality standards, and governance frameworks. Complete all required safety training and certifications. Contribute to continuous improvement by identifying recurring quality issues and suggesting process enhancements. Accurately use Rack Lifecycle Team tooling for work recording and asset tracking. Coordinate with DCO, DCEO, Network Engineering, and facilities teams during deployment or decommission activities. Participate in daily stand-ups and pre-work briefings, communicating task status, blockers, and schedule adherence clearly. Provide timely updates on task completion and flag risks or delays to the team lead immediately.

A Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field is required. Minimum of 2 years of experience in Computer Hardware Repair, Infrastructure Cabling, Network Deployment, Data Center Operations, or Technical Project Management. At least 2 years of hands-on experience with network cabling, fiber optics, and essential test equipment such as VFL, power meters, and OTDR. Demonstrated experience of 2+ years in fiber handling and fiber installation processes. Ability to lift and rack equipment weighing up to 40 pounds. Preferred qualifications include working effectively in cramped or elevated spaces while adhering to safety guidelines, managing priorities under pressure, experience with ticketing systems, knowledge of cabling infrastructure best practices, prior data center environment experience (racking, stacking, cable management), and familiarity with rack decommissioning procedures including device wipe and media destruction.
