Join the AWS Infrastructure Services team, the backbone of cloud innovation. We are seeking a meticulous and technically adept Rack Lifecycle Technician to ensure the seamless physical operation of our global data centers. In this role, you will be instrumental in transforming capacity plans into operational reality by performing critical rack installations, cabling, and decommissioning tasks with precision.

Your contributions are vital to maintaining AWS's ability to deliver reliable, secure, and cost-effective infrastructure capacity. This is a hands-on position where your attention to detail directly impacts customer access to the services they rely on.

Execute precise rack installations, including power, grounding, and cable management, adhering to AWS standards and Method of Procedures (MOPs). Perform structured cabling, fiber/copper terminations, and ensure accurate labeling and documentation. Conduct and validate OTDR and power testing, promptly escalating any deviations. Manage assigned work orders, maintaining real-time status updates in workflow management tools. Conduct thorough quality checks on completed cabling, verifying port maps and updating CMDB/DCIM records. Identify and escalate any issues or deviations from Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Receive, verify, and stage hardware deliveries, validating against Bill of Materials (BOM) and reporting discrepancies. Maintain accurate site inventory records for all deployed components. Execute physical rack decommissioning, including cable removal, power disconnects, and asset de-tagging. Perform secure device wipe and media destruction in compliance with AWS policies. Sort, label, and stage recovered assets for reverse logistics processes. Update DCIM/CMDB and IPAM records accurately post-decommissioning. Adhere strictly to all site-level SOPs, quality standards, and safety protocols. Participate in regular EHS audits and team safety briefings. Contribute to continuous improvement by suggesting process enhancements. Accurately utilize Rack Lifecycle Team tooling for work recording and asset tracking. Coordinate effectively with DCO, DCEO, Network Engineering, and facilities teams during deployment and decom activities. Participate in daily stand-ups, providing clear updates on task status and any potential risks. Maintain and enhance technical proficiency in data center physical infrastructure and structured cabling. Complete all required safety certifications and training modules. Actively seek feedback to refine personal performance and output quality. Share knowledge and best practices with peers to foster team capability. Stay informed about AWS infrastructure tooling, cabling standards, and process updates.

A minimum of 2 years of experience in computer hardware troubleshooting and repair is required. Possess at least 1 year of experience in computer networking. A high school diploma or equivalent is necessary for this role. Familiarity with rack decommissioning, including device wipe, media destruction, and asset recovery procedures, is preferred. Demonstrated ability to handle customer interactions effectively during problem resolution and to perform efficiently under pressure is advantageous.
