As an ID-LB Cabling Infrastructure Tech, you will be responsible for adhering to strict security and safety best practices within the data center environment. This includes performing the installation and testing of both copper and fiber optic cabling.
You will also be tasked with creating and attaching essential labels and barcodes. A fundamental understanding of various test equipment, such as power meters, light sources, OTDRs, VFLs, Fluke devices, network analyzers, and copper/fiber cabling test equipment, is crucial.
Additional duties involve basic build and troubleshooting of network devices, managing inventory of related materials, and ensuring timely delivery to the site. You will adhere to defined escalation processes and standard operating procedures. This role requires working in challenging environmental conditions and regularly working at heights or from ladders. Experience with a ticketing system is necessary, and the ability to travel within the geographical work area is required. Occasional work in confined spaces, such as under raised floors, is also part of the role.
We are seeking individuals with a Diploma or Graduation in a technical field, or equivalent practical experience, coupled with 1-2 years of project management or operations planning experience. A minimum of 1-2 years of experience with physical network infrastructure deployment and troubleshooting is essential, alongside 1-2 years of experience with network cabling (fiber optic & copper).
Strong English language communication skills are required. A basic knowledge of computer hardware and network cabling is necessary. The ability to work effectively in a team environment, demonstrating excellent time management skills and the capacity to follow direction, is paramount.
Candidates must be able to work at heights or use ladders for extended periods and possess strong attention to detail to maintain high-quality standards. Preferred qualifications include a substantial background in large-scale data center network implementations and support, knowledge of copper and fiber optic testing methodologies, and the ability to read basic layout drawings and floorplans. Industry standard certifications and previous data center experience are advantageous.
