Responsibilities

As an ID-LB Cabling Infrastructure Tech, your key responsibilities include adhering to strict data center security and safety protocols.

You will perform the installation and rigorous testing of both copper and fiber optic cabling systems. Creating and attaching accurate labels and barcodes for all installed infrastructure is also a critical part of the role.

A core function involves understanding and utilizing various test equipment, such as power meters, light sources, OTDRs, VFLs, Fluke testers, network analyzers, and other copper/fiber cabling test equipment. Basic build and troubleshooting of network devices will also be expected.

Effective inventory management of related materials is essential, including checking and coordinating daily site deliveries. You must strictly adhere to defined escalation processes and standard operating procedures. Be prepared to work in demanding environments with higher temperatures, noise levels, and potentially colder conditions than typical office settings. Regular work at heights and from ladders will be required.

Experience with ticketing systems is necessary. The role also requires the ability to travel within the geographical work area, with occasional work in confined spaces like under raised floors.

Qualifications

To excel in this role, you should possess a Diploma in a technical field or equivalent practical experience. A minimum of 1-2 years of experience in project management or operations planning is required, alongside 1-2 years of hands-on experience with physical network infrastructure deployment and troubleshooting.

Further essential experience includes 1-2 years with both network cabling (fiber optic & copper). You must have the ability to communicate effectively in English. Basic knowledge of computer hardware and network cabling is expected.

Success in this position hinges on your ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment, demonstrate excellent time management skills, and follow direction accurately. You must be capable of working at heights or using ladders for extended periods and possess strong attention to detail to maintain high quality standards. A high school diploma or equivalent is also a prerequisite, along with the ability to lift and rack equipment up to 40 pounds.
