Join Rippling's Global Payroll Operations team as a Global Payroll Operations Specialist, focusing on Canadian customer support. This role bridges payroll operations, customer experience, compliance, and product execution, ensuring accuracy, scalability, and responsiveness in Canadian payroll.
As an independent contributor, you will manage your workload, own defined workflows, and resolve complex payroll issues with minimal supervision. The ideal candidate possesses strong Canadian payroll knowledge, operational discipline, customer empathy, structured problem-solving skills, and effective cross-functional communication abilities.
You will be instrumental in managing Canadian payroll operations, tax filings, agency notices, reconciliations, audits, and customer escalations. Collaboration with Global Payroll Product, Engineering, Support, Tax Operations, third parties, and government agencies is key to identifying product gaps, enhancing tooling, and refining SOPs for an optimal customer experience.
Take ownership of recurring Canadian payroll operations, including tax filings, remittances, reconciliations, and audits with precision. Manage operational timelines and resolve moderately complex payroll and compliance issues independently.
Deliver exceptional customer communication, de-escalating complex cases with clear updates, accurate QA, and structured root-cause analysis. Partner with Product Managers and Engineers to identify product gaps and workflow breakdowns, translating these into scalable tooling and updated SOPs.
Liaise effectively with Canadian federal and provincial agencies (CRA, Revenu Québec, Service Canada, WSIB) to resolve operational notices and maintain up-to-date expertise. Ensure auditability and seamless cross-functional handoffs by maintaining accurate Jira case documentation and workbooks.
A minimum of 2 to 5 years of experience in payroll, tax operations, or customer-facing operations, with comprehensive knowledge of Canadian payroll, statutory deductions, filings, and upcoming regulations. Familiarity with Canadian payroll agency workflows (CRA, Revenu Québec, Service Canada, EHT, WSIB, RL-1s, ROEs, and tax notices) is essential.
Demonstrate strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with a proven ability to manage deadline-driven work and independently resolve complex compliance issues. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including customer empathy and de-escalation abilities, are required.
Ability to collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams, including Product, Engineering, Support, Tax Operations, and external government agencies. Proficiency with spreadsheets for data reconciliations and audits is a must; experience with Salesforce, Jira, Confluence, or Google Workspace is advantageous. A strong ownership mindset and a proactive approach to continuous process improvement are highly valued.
