Boston Consulting Group (BCG) is seeking a skilled Global IT Configuration Engineer Manager to join our HR Systems Group. This role focuses on serving as a hands-on configuration expert within Workday, with a significant emphasis on Advanced Compensation functionalities. You will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining salary, bonus, eligibility rules, and cycle frameworks. Additionally, you will support configuration across Core HCM, Security, and other modules to ensure scalable system design aligned with business strategy.
This position involves close collaboration with Global Compensation Stakeholders and the Product Team to translate BCG’s compensation strategy into effective Workday solutions. Your expertise will ensure accurate execution of compensation cycles, maintain data integrity, and drive continuous platform improvement, blending technical configuration with functional insights.
As the Global IT Configuration Engineer Manager, you will plan and execute compensation configuration, including variable pay, merit, bonus, and allowances. You will manage the end-to-end execution of Annual Salary Reviews and merit grid setups.
Key responsibilities include configuring Business Process Frameworks (BPF), condition rules, validations, and complex calculated fields. You will collaborate closely with the Product Team and HR/Compensation leaders to translate business strategies into scalable, system-wide solutions.
Further duties involve performing comprehensive testing, validating configurations, and troubleshooting system defects. You will also create clear specification documents for modifications and new functionality, ensure data integrity, and maintain internal compliance and audit processes. Staying updated on Workday technology trends and acting as an evangelist for future initiatives is also part of the role.
We are looking for a candidate with a Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or Information Systems, coupled with at least 7 years of deep, hands-on configuration experience with Workday Advanced Compensation and Core Compensation.
A strong understanding of merit pools, compensation review statements, proration rules, complex scorecards, grade setups, eligibility rules, and integration points with Core HCM, Talent modules, and third-party payroll systems is essential.
Preferred qualifications include certification such as Workday Pro - Advanced Compensation, prior consulting experience as a Workday Comp Lead or architect on end-to-end implementation projects, and experience with large, global companies. Familiarity with Workday Docs, BIRT, Workday Security Configuration, technical troubleshooting, stakeholder management, and delivering training and support to end-users are also highly valued.
