Within EY's Business Consulting Practice, the Financial Services Risk Management (FSRM) group delivers solutions to help FSO clients identify, measure, manage, and monitor market, credit, operational, and regulatory risks inherent in their trading, asset-liability management, capital management, and other capital markets activities.

As part of the QA Managed Services team supporting Wholesale Credit Quality Assurance (WCQA), you will independently review credit portfolios, assessing underwriting quality against regulatory and internal policy standards. You'll execute end-to-end QA processes within a managed services model, ensuring adherence to SLAs, quality standards, and governance frameworks. This includes leading Quality Assurance Reviews (QARs) across the credit lifecycle, providing challenge to underwriters on credit decisions and documentation, and generating thematic insights to identify operational weaknesses and drive continuous improvement in credit risk management.

Key responsibilities involve performing periodic QARs on wholesale lending credit risk activities, evaluating risk ratings, financial analysis, and credit decisions. You will deliver objective assessments using defined methodologies and review credit memos, financial models, and approval workflows. Identifying and documenting process gaps and control weaknesses, with a focus on thematic trends, is crucial. Providing credible challenge to business leads and underwriters, along with supporting the control of wholesale credit risks, is essential. You will also translate policy requirements into testing strategies, prepare high-quality QA deliverables, generate portfolio-level insights, and track corrective actions. Effective collaboration with cross-functional stakeholders is key to ensuring alignment and enhancing QA frameworks.

This role requires a CA or a Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in finance, accounting, economics, or a related field. Candidates should possess 7-10 years of experience in wholesale credit underwriting, credit risk management, loan review, credit quality assurance, or internal audit/assurance covering credit processes. A strong understanding of the wholesale credit risk lifecycle, including underwriting, monitoring, and governance, is essential. Solid knowledge of risk management and control frameworks for corporate or counterparty credit risk is necessary, with exposure to problem credit assessment being an advantage.

You must demonstrate the ability to evaluate credit processes and control design, identify quality gaps, and assess control effectiveness within a QA or review function. Proven capability to review and challenge credit work products, clearly documenting QA conclusions, is required. Strong written communication skills are needed to produce structured QA reports and articulate insights for senior stakeholders. Experience in cross-functional collaboration and basic AI knowledge are also key requirements. Nice-to-have skills include professional certifications like CFA or FRM, experience with QA test scripts, portfolio analytics, data analytics tools, and advanced AI knowledge.
