Spearhead mainframe modernization initiatives, defining strategies aligned with business goals and technology roadmaps. Collaborate with senior leaders and architecture teams to prioritize modernization efforts and gain executive support. Assess mainframe applications (COBOL, JCL, DB2, CICS, etc.) to identify modernization opportunities and risks. Champion AI tools, LLMs, and AI agentic workflows for automated code analysis and refactoring at scale. Lead and mentor a team of modernization engineers, fostering capabilities in AI-driven modernization and cloud-native development.

Architect target-state systems including APIs and microservices, ensuring scalability and resilience. Oversee the migration of mainframe workloads to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) using AI-driven solutions. Drive adoption of infrastructure-as-code and security best practices. Create executive-level reports on modernization progress, business impact, and ROI, tracking key performance indicators.

A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, AI, or a related engineering field is preferred. Possess 10+ years of experience with legacy mainframe systems (COBOL, JCL, Assembler, CICS, DB2, IMS, VSAM), including 3-4 years in a leadership role. Demonstrable success in leading large-scale mainframe modernization or digital transformation programs is essential.

Extensive expertise in data migration, integration, ETL, and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud). Proficiency in programming/scripting languages such as Python and Java. Expert knowledge of APIs, microservices architecture, and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes). Significant experience with AI tools, LLM API calls, prompt engineering, and context engineering for code modernization workflows is required. Experience building or managing AI/ML pipelines for code transformation is highly valued. Exceptional client engagement, problem-solving, communication, and leadership abilities are critical.
