As a Semantic BI Engineer, you will design, develop, and advise on enterprise BI and semantic analytics solutions. Your role extends beyond dashboard creation, encompassing the assessment of business needs, recommendation of appropriate BI and self-service reporting tools, design of semantic data layers, and enablement of AI-assisted analytics experiences. This position integrates analytics engineering, semantic layer design, BI strategy, data storytelling, and business analysis.

Key responsibilities include shaping BI strategy, evaluating tools, and advising on solutions. You will assess reporting and analytics needs across various user personas and governance requirements, recommending suitable BI tools based on scalability, cost, and AI readiness. You'll also contribute to enterprise BI roadmaps across platforms like Power BI, Microsoft Fabric, and Tableau, advising stakeholders on the optimal use of different analytical approaches. Additionally, you will design semantic data layers, define governed business metrics, and develop analytics engineering assets using SQL and dbt-style patterns.

We are looking for candidates with 3-7 years of experience in BI, analytics engineering, data analysis, semantic modelling, data modelling, or analytics architecture. A strong track record in developing dashboards and semantic models, coupled with the ability to recommend the right BI and self-service analytics tools for business needs, is essential. Experience with BI platforms such as Power BI, Microsoft Fabric, Tableau, and semantic layer technologies is highly valued.

Ideal candidates possess an architect's mindset, influencing BI strategy and consumption architecture. Excellent data analytics, stakeholder management, business consulting, and data storytelling skills are critical. You should understand the appropriate application of AI in analytics workflows and be adept at guiding business users towards trusted, governed insights. Comfort operating across business, analytics, data engineering, and governance teams is expected. This role is distinct from a traditional BI Developer, focusing on defining how trusted data is modelled, consumed, and transformed into actionable insights.
