Drive predictable project execution with well-defined milestones and timelines, actively managing risks, blockers, and inter-team dependencies.
Uphold operational excellence by ensuring systems meet stringent expectations for reliability, scalability, and performance. Champion the adoption of comprehensive monitoring, observability, and incident management practices. Support teams in efficiently resolving production issues and enhancing overall system stability. Continuously refine engineering processes, tools, and quality benchmarks for ongoing improvement.
A minimum of 10 years of software engineering experience, including proven leadership capabilities. Demonstrated experience in delivering large-scale, distributed backend systems. Hands-on proficiency with Java, Spring Boot, and REST-based services is essential. Expertise in microservices and event-driven architectures is required, alongside a solid understanding of data storage systems (RDBMS/NoSQL) and data access patterns. Experience with messaging platforms such as Kafka is necessary.
Exposure to large-scale data systems or storage platforms is highly advantageous. Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, containerization technologies, and cloud-native development practices is expected. A strong grasp of system reliability, observability, and performance tuning principles is crucial. Excellent problem-solving abilities and adept stakeholder management skills are key. Previous experience in mentoring engineers and leading teams is a significant asset. Adherence to Mastercard's corporate security policies and practices is mandatory for all roles.
