Join the Looker Control Plane team at Google Cloud to architect the core of Looker’s global multi-cloud infrastructure. This role involves overseeing the complete lifecycle of Looker instances across GCP, encompassing billing, resource provisioning with Terraform, and multi-region GKE orchestration. You'll tackle high-impact initiatives such as consumption-based billing, autoscaling, advanced network security, AI resource provisioning, instance lifecycle management, and building scalable delivery platforms using One Platform APIs. Our aim is to drive Looker's advancement through robust automation, enterprise-grade security, and innovative billing and lifecycle systems.

Spearhead the resolution of complex, open-ended problems, including the design of next-generation billing systems, multi-region disaster recovery strategies, and cross-cloud migrations.

Demonstrate leadership across various groups, effectively managing competing priorities, influencing system designs beyond your immediate team, and collaborating with product management for unified execution.

Forge strong partnerships with product management and cross-functional stakeholders to translate product vision into a concrete technical roadmap, prioritizing deliverables and ensuring the successful completion of intricate projects.

A Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience is required. Candidates must possess 8 years of software development experience in languages such as Python, C, C++, Java, Go, or JavaScript.

Significant experience is needed in a technical leadership capacity, overseeing projects, along with 3 years in people management, supervision, or team leadership.

Prior experience leading engineering teams focused on container orchestration (e.g., Kubernetes) and cloud platforms (e.g., Google Cloud Platform) is essential. A Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field, alongside experience in building, scaling, and maintaining distributed systems and multi-cloud infrastructure, is preferred.

Proven ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, navigate ambiguity, and define long-term technical strategies is highly valued.
