As an Emulation Engineer, you will play a crucial role in validating hardware designs and accelerating software testing prior to tape-out. This involves setting up and configuring advanced emulation platforms.
Your responsibilities will include debugging complex issues, executing comprehensive test scenarios, and ensuring the emulated system accurately mirrors the behavior of the final product. Close collaboration with design and verification teams is key to optimizing performance and reducing time-to-market for intricate chip designs.
Develop, debug, and maintain functional simulation models for IP-level or full-system platforms using Simics. Run firmware, drivers, and operating systems on virtual platforms to validate hardware functionality before tape-in. Utilize Simics capabilities, including checkpoints, reverse execution, and scripting, to isolate failures to software, firmware, or hardware models. Analyze system performance and optimize simulation efficiency. Create scripts using Python or Simics scripting for automating simulation runs, regressions, and test scenarios. Collaborate with RTL designers, architects, and software teams to debug and verify system-level functionality.
A minimum of 2 to 6 years of experience is required in pre-silicon verification, simulation, or emulation. Significant hands-on experience with Intel Simics or comparable virtual platform technologies like QEMU or SystemC is essential.
A strong understanding of computer architecture, including CPUs, memory controllers, and IO protocols, along with solid knowledge of operating system concepts, is expected. Proficiency in Python for automation and scripting, and in C/C++ for modeling, is necessary. Candidates must demonstrate proficiency in using debuggers such as GDB or the Simics Debugger to analyze low-level software and hardware interactions.
