This position is integral to the Amazon Devices team, which is renowned for creating influential consumer electronics such as the Kindle, Fire tablets, Fire TV, and the popular Amazon Echo family. Your work will directly contribute to devices like the Echo Show and Echo Spot, enhancing their capabilities in areas like video calling and smart home integration.
Contribute significantly to the architectural design and scaling of new and existing systems, incorporating best practices in reliability. Develop and implement embedded firmware using C/C++ for complex consumer devices. Design and integrate essential debugging tools and metrics to continuously monitor and enhance solution performance. Build software for both RTOS and Linux-based embedded platforms, ensuring seamless operation. Adhere to professional software engineering standards throughout the full development lifecycle, including code reviews, source control, and testing processes.
Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to deliver technical solutions for new features and resolve customer-reported issues. Optimize existing drivers, memory usage, and application code to meet specific project requirements. Work closely with hardware teams to ensure robust integration of software and hardware architecture.
A minimum of 3 years of professional experience in embedded firmware development is required. Proficiency in C/C++ programming for embedded systems is essential. Strong foundational knowledge in computer science principles, including object-oriented design, data structures, algorithm design, and complex problem-solving, is necessary. Experience in at least one of the following areas is expected: cameras, sensors, or related algorithm development.
Demonstrated experience in embedded software design, development, and debugging, ideally on ARM-based platforms. Familiarity with RTOS and embedded Linux development environments is crucial. Board-level experience is also a key requirement for this role.
