We are looking for a Director of Software Development to lead all India-based charters and teams. This pivotal role involves managing AACT's charter and guiding our Bangalore and Chennai teams, comprising SDMs, SDEs, TPMs, and SQEs. You will be instrumental in recruiting and nurturing top-tier leaders and individuals, establishing the benchmark for an AI-first engineering organization where large language models, agents, and AI-assisted development are central to our strategy and daily operations.

Define and execute technical strategies for critical initiatives, including expanding Alexa's modalities, enhancing multi-turn conversations, and evolving inference and orchestration infrastructure.

As a key member of the AACT Senior Leadership team, you will establish the strategy for India sites and lead software engineering teams.

Take ownership of Operational Excellence (OE) for AACT's India-based charters. This includes accountability for service availability, latency, security, and cost-efficiency, alongside on-call duties, incident response, COEs, and driving large-scale operational improvements.

Champion the responsible adoption of generative AI and agentic tooling across the organization, both in the products shipped (LLM-driven experiences, orchestration, inference) and in team development processes (AI-assisted coding, review, testing, operations), while managing associated quality, safety, cost, and latency trade-offs.

Cultivate the talent, mechanisms, and culture necessary for a large organization to innovate rapidly and safely with AI, boosting engineering leverage and productivity without compromising customer trust or operational excellence.

A Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field is required, complemented by at least 15 years of software engineering experience.

Demonstrated experience of over 8 years managing senior engineering managers is essential. Additionally, experience as a mentor, tech lead, or leading an engineering team is expected.

Proven ability to collaborate across multiple organizations and influence key outcomes is vital. Experience leading multiple concurrent projects as a technical leader and driving strategic technical decisions is also necessary.

A strong understanding of software engineering practices and best practices across the full software development lifecycle, including coding standards, build processes, testing, and operations, is required.
