Join Microsoft's Cloud Hardware and Infrastructure Engineering team, a critical force powering our global 'Intelligent Cloud' mission. We architect and deliver the foundational technologies for over 200 online services, including Azure, Office 365, and Xbox Live. Our Compute Silicon & Manufacturing Engineering organization is at the forefront of designing and developing cutting-edge computer chips like the Azure Cobalt, providing strategic advantages for Microsoft and enabling customer success. As our cloud business expands, the timely, high-volume, and high-quality deployment of new hardware infrastructure is paramount. The Semi-custom and Central IP Silicon (SCIPS) team plays a vital role in defining and enhancing operational success metrics for hardware manufacturing, optimizing planning, quality, delivery, scale, and sustainability for Microsoft's cloud hardware.
We are seeking engineers with a deep commitment to customer-focused solutions, strong industry insight, and the vision to implement future technical strategies for managing and optimizing cloud infrastructure.
As a Design Verification Engineer on the SCIPS team, you will tackle complex silicon and IP validation challenges. You will lead functional verification efforts for advanced IP or ASIC SOC components, leveraging UVM/C test benches. Your role will involve conducting comprehensive pre-silicon IP/SoC verification and post-silicon/FPGA validation through effective testing strategies.
Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including Architecture, Design, and Verification, to ensure successful project delivery and contribute to shaping future designs. You will be responsible for creating test plans, developing validation tests, building support infrastructure, and meticulously documenting bugs and issues. Executing tests, troubleshooting failures, and devising stress and performance scenarios are key to achieving test plan objectives. You will also engage in chip bring-up activities and develop test firmware to support other teams. Drive innovation by enhancing validation efficiency with new methodologies and tools, and embody Microsoft’s core values.
We are looking for candidates with a minimum of 3 years of relevant technical engineering experience. Alternatively, a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, coupled with 3+ years of technical engineering or internship experience, is suitable. A Master's degree in a similar field with 3+ years of experience, or a Doctorate degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, are also considered.
Key technical skills include experience in executing full-cycle pre-silicon verification of IPs/Sub-Systems/SoCs. A strong background in creating and debugging IP/SoC level tests using SV-UVM/C is essential. You should possess in-depth knowledge of verification principles, testbenches, and stimulus generation, along with a solid understanding of silicon chip and/or computer architecture. Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Ruby, or Perl is required. Experience with formal verification methods, Assembly, startup code, linker scripts, and developing Makefiles for software development are preferred qualifications.
