Embark on a critical role shaping the future of our rental lifecycle systems. This position is instrumental in designing and evolving robust architectures for reservations, pricing engines, fleet allocation, customer identity, and mobile booking. You will operate within a complex, distributed environment supporting multi-brand, multi-country operations, navigating challenging regulatory landscapes.

Your daily engagement will involve close collaboration with Product, Engineering, and Operations teams. The focus is on translating intricate business needs into scalable, resilient, and secure system designs. You will spearhead architectural discussions, conduct thorough design and code reviews, establish clear API contracts, and ensure seamless alignment across various engineering teams.

A key aspect of this role is modernizing legacy systems by transitioning them to cloud-native, microservices-based, and event-driven architectures. The goal is to guarantee high availability, exceptional performance, and robust extensibility. Additionally, you will mentor engineering teams, influence technical strategy, and promote best practices in observability, fault tolerance, and CI/CD pipelines.

Define and champion end-to-end architecture for Rental (RAC) and Digital platforms, encompassing backend services, APIs, and frontend integrations.

Design and implement advanced cloud-native architectures leveraging microservices, serverless patterns, and distributed systems.

Establish and enforce API-first design principles and integration patterns across all systems, including REST, GraphQL, and event streaming.

Drive the adoption of event-driven architecture (Kafka or equivalent) to foster scalable and loosely coupled systems.

Lead architecture initiatives for critical platform capabilities such as reservations, pricing engines, fleet systems, customer profiles, and user experiences.

Ensure all systems are engineered for superior availability, scalability, fault tolerance, and performance.

Define stringent standards for security, compliance, and data governance across platforms.

Collaborate closely with engineering teams through design reviews, code reviews, and hands-on technical guidance.

Guide teams in adopting comprehensive DevOps practices, including CI/CD, infrastructure as code, and observability tools.

Evaluate and recommend cutting-edge technologies, frameworks, and tools aligned with our platform strategy.

A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field is required.

We seek candidates with 10–15+ years of progressive experience in software engineering and architecture.

Demonstrated experience in designing and implementing large-scale, distributed systems is essential.

Proficiency in Java, Spring Boot, and backend architectures is a must.

Strong expertise in RESTful APIs, GraphQL, microservices, and event-driven systems is expected.

Hands-on experience with major cloud platforms, preferably AWS, is necessary.

A solid understanding of system design principles, data modeling (SQL/NoSQL), and messaging systems like Kafka is crucial.

Experience with frontend and mobile integration patterns is beneficial.

Familiarity with DevOps practices, containerization (Docker), and orchestration (Kubernetes) is required.

Exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to navigate technical trade-offs are key.

Excellent communication abilities are needed to influence teams and stakeholders effectively.

Experience in Agile/Scrum environments with globally distributed teams is preferred.

Familiarity with security best practices such as OAuth2, JWT, and Zero Trust concepts is advantageous.
