Drive the evolution of our rental lifecycle systems, encompassing reservations, pricing, fleet allocation, customer identity, and mobile booking. You will operate within a complex, distributed environment supporting multi-brand and multi-country operations.

This role involves close collaboration with Product, Engineering, and Operations teams to translate business needs into scalable, resilient, and secure system designs. You'll lead architectural discussions, conduct design and code reviews, define API contracts, and ensure cross-team alignment.

You will be instrumental in modernizing legacy systems to cloud-native, microservices-based, and event-driven architectures, ensuring high availability, performance, and extensibility. Guidance on best practices for observability, fault tolerance, and CI/CD pipelines is also a key aspect.

A significant focus will be on mentoring engineers, influencing technical decisions, and maintaining architectural consistency while balancing immediate delivery with long-term strategic goals.

Define and own the end-to-end architecture for Rental and Digital platforms, including backend services, APIs, and frontend integrations. Design and implement cloud-native architectures using microservices, serverless patterns, and distributed systems.

Establish and govern API-first design principles and integration patterns across systems. Drive adoption of event-driven architecture (e.g., Kafka) for scalable, loosely coupled systems.

Lead architecture for key platform capabilities such as reservations, pricing, fleet management, customer profiles, and user experiences. Ensure systems are built for high availability, scalability, fault tolerance, and performance.

Define standards for security, compliance, and data governance. Collaborate with engineering teams through design and code reviews, providing hands-on technical guidance. Guide the adoption of DevOps practices, including CI/CD, infrastructure as code, and observability tools.

Evaluate and recommend new technologies and tools. Partner with Enterprise Architecture to align with broader technology strategies. Leverage and promote AI-enabled development and intelligent system design.

A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is required, alongside 10-15 years of experience in software engineering and architecture. Proven experience designing and implementing large-scale, distributed systems is essential.

Strong expertise is needed in Java, Spring Boot, backend architectures, RESTful APIs, GraphQL, and microservices/event-driven systems. Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS preferred) is necessary.

A solid understanding of system design principles (scalability, consistency, resilience), data modeling, database technologies (SQL/NoSQL), and messaging systems (Kafka, RabbitMQ) is crucial. Experience with frontend and mobile integration patterns, and knowledge of DevOps practices are also required.

Candidates must possess strong problem-solving skills, the ability to evaluate technical trade-offs, and excellent communication skills for influencing across teams. Experience in Agile/Scrum environments with globally distributed teams is beneficial. Familiarity with security best practices (OAuth2, JWT, Zero Trust) and enthusiasm for applying AI in architecture and development are highly valued.
