Job description

Join AWS Infrastructure Services, the backbone of the global cloud, where we design, plan, deliver, and operate all AWS global infrastructure. We are the team responsible for keeping the cloud running smoothly, supporting data centers and all the critical equipment that ensures continuous innovation for our customers.

This role offers an exciting opportunity to work within cutting-edge data centers, helping to shape the future of cloud technology in India. You’ll be part of a dynamic and diverse team comprising software, hardware, and network engineers, alongside supply chain specialists, security experts, and operations managers.

We are seeking skilled Data Centre Operation Technicians at Amazon Data Services India Private Limited (ADSIPL) who possess a passion for technology and a drive to expand AWS Cloud offerings. As we continue to expand our data centers in India to meet increasing demand for disk and network capacity, and with our CloudFront service seeing significant global growth, talented individuals are crucial for building and managing these operations. Come join the world's most customer-centric company and be part of this expansion.

Responsibilities

As a Data Centre Operation Technician, you will be integral to the Operations team, focusing on the maintenance and upkeep of data center infrastructure. Your duties will encompass server rack installation, hardware break-fix on various components, and troubleshooting network issues.

You will be responsible for responding to emergent situations that impact operational stability and may serve as the primary point of contact for both internal teams like Network Engineers and Systems Engineers, as well as external service partners. You will manage and meet SLAs for assigned trouble tickets, acting as the first line of support for hardware and technical issues.

This role involves on-call duties and participation in 24x7 shift rotations, including scheduled maintenance and change management activities. You will contribute to metric analysis in team meetings, assisting in achieving daily and weekly goals. Furthermore, you will ensure adherence to departmental policies, including safety and security, and contribute to documentation through root cause analysis for operational issues, driving process improvements within the data center environment. More experienced technicians will have the opportunity to mentor less experienced team members.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of 2 years of experience in computer hardware troubleshooting and repair, complemented by at least 1 year of computer networking experience. A high school diploma or equivalent is required.

This position has a physical component, requiring the ability to lift and rack equipment up to 18kg. You may need to work in confined spaces or elevated locations while strictly adhering to health and safety guidelines. The role requires participation in a 24x7 shift rotation.

While not strictly mandatory, experience in effectively managing customer interactions during problem resolution and operating efficiently under pressure will be highly beneficial for success in this role. Amazon values diverse experiences, so even if you don't meet every preferred qualification, we encourage you to apply if you are passionate about this field.
