As a Data Centre Operations Technician, you will be the primary contact for internal and external stakeholders, resolving a variety of technical challenges.
Key responsibilities include: - Prioritizing and resolving trouble tickets to maintain high system reliability. - Serving as an escalation point for systems and network hardware issues, including deep dives into Linux server and XEN service virtualization problems. - Troubleshooting technical issues across systems, networking, and power/mechanical infrastructure. - Remediating physical layer and power outages. - Participating in data center power and cooling events. - Meeting 24x7 on-call requirements and responding during shift rotations. - Installing and configuring host racks according to internal SLAs. - Triaging and resolving trouble tickets for all devices within your region. - Acting as the data center point of contact for high-severity issues. - Performing physical replacement of server and network device parts, ensuring correct rotation of spares. - Contributing to defining metrics to enhance customer uptime. - Enforcing security best practices and interacting with third-party vendors and contractors. - Proposing ideas to improve operational efficiency and participating in high-impact projects.
We are seeking individuals with a solid foundation in computer networking and operating systems.
Essential qualifications include: - A minimum of 2 years of experience in computer networking. - At least 1 year of experience with Linux operating systems. - A Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
Preferred qualifications that will enhance your application include: - Proven ability to manage customer interactions effectively during problem resolution and perform under pressure. - Experience utilizing ticketing systems for work and priority management. - Familiarity with cabling infrastructure best practices and methodologies. - Hands-on experience in a data center environment, including racking and stacking equipment, cable management, and hot/cold aisle containment.
