Job description

Join AWS Infrastructure Services, the backbone of the cloud, responsible for the global operation of all AWS data centers. We manage the complex web of servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling systems that ensure our customers' continuous access to innovation. This role offers the opportunity to tackle challenging problems within a dynamic, global supply chain.

You will become part of a diverse and collaborative team, including software, hardware, and network engineers, alongside supply chain specialists and security experts. Working across AWS, you'll contribute to maintaining the highest standards of safety and security, while delivering vast capacity at optimal costs. Embrace an inclusive culture that values bold ideas and empowers you to see them through to completion.

Responsibilities

As a key operational resource for Amazon Data Services India Private Limited (ADSIPL), you will oversee the hands-on management of Mechanical and Electrical (M&E) critical infrastructure within our Indian data centers. Your responsibilities include ensuring the optimal operation and maintenance of all critical infrastructure supporting IT operations.

Key duties involve comprehensive event, incident, and problem management, along with meticulous change management. You will also manage costs, contracts, and cultivate strong relationships with landlords, vendors, and internal teams. This role requires 24x7 on-call availability, scheduled weekend support, and adherence to rotational shifts.

Further responsibilities include end-to-end ownership of data center changes, incidents, and problems, including root cause analysis and resolution. You will ensure maintenance and repairs are strategically planned and executed for business benefit, manage assets and inventory effectively, and develop essential documentation such as standard operating procedures and emergency response plans. Additionally, you will deliver regular engineering reports, ensure adherence to SLAs and KPIs, and provide hands-on facility support for installations, decommissioning, and audits.

Qualifications

We are seeking an experienced professional with at least 4 years of relevant work experience in data center or other critical environments. A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field is required. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, and Excel, is essential for daily operations.

Preferred qualifications include extensive experience in data center or mission-critical facilities, such as hospitals or public safety sites. A strong understanding of electrical systems is highly valued, encompassing areas like utility feeds, transformers, switchgear, UPS systems, generators, and monitoring systems. Familiarity with mechanical systems, including chillers, cooling towers, piping, and ventilation, will be a significant asset in this role.
