Our Data Center Operations team designs, installs, and maintains the world's largest cloud computing infrastructure. We are seeking a skilled Data Centre Linux & HW Engineer passionate about technology to help us elevate AWS Cloud offerings. As a Data Centre Operation Technician, you will be the primary point of contact for both internal teams, including Network Engineers, Systems Engineers, and Software Developers, and external partners like Hardware Vendors and Contractors. You will contribute to the maintenance and upkeep of data center infrastructure, including server rack installation, hardware break-fix, network troubleshooting, and responding to critical operational situations.
You will manage trouble tickets, resolve hardware issues, and perform on-call duties for scheduled maintenance and change management activities. Your role involves monitoring data center infrastructure, participating in team meetings for metric analysis, and contributing to documentation and process improvement through root cause analysis. More experienced technicians will have the opportunity to mentor junior team members. This position requires participation in 24x7 shift rotations.
The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of two years of experience in computer hardware troubleshooting and repair, along with at least one year of experience in computer networking. A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
Preferred qualifications include experience in effectively handling customer interactions during problem resolution, operating efficiently under pressure, and knowledge of fiber optic and copper cabling standards, testing equipment, and troubleshooting methodologies. Experience working in a colocation data center facility and a strong aptitude for troubleshooting and problem-solving are highly valued. You will support DC infrastructure equipment, follow ticket-based workflows for problem resolution and routine operations, and maintain operational areas.
