As a Data Centre Operation Technician, your core responsibility will be the maintenance and upkeep of data center infrastructure. This includes server rack installation, hardware break-fix, and troubleshooting network issues.
You will respond to emergent situations impacting operational stability and serve as the primary contact for internal teams and external service partners. You will manage trouble tickets, perform hardware troubleshooting, and handle scheduled maintenance and change management activities.
Key duties involve participating in team meetings for metric analysis, adhering to safety and security policies, and contributing to documentation through root cause analysis. More experienced technicians may mentor junior team members. This role operates on a 24x7 shift rotation.
Ideal candidates will possess a Bachelor's degree and a minimum of two years in computer hardware troubleshooting and repair, alongside at least one year of computer networking experience.
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving aptitude is essential. You will be involved in site management, maintaining operational area tidiness, and handling tasks within compact server and equipment enclosures. Experience with ticket-based workflows for systematic problem resolution and routine hardware operations is expected.
Preferred qualifications include experience with fiber optic and copper cabling, operating efficiently under pressure, and previous work in a colocation data center facility. A passion for technology and a commitment to customer-centricity will set you apart.
