Amazon Web Services is experiencing significant growth, and we're expanding our Infrastructure Operations team with talented Data Center Technicians. Our team is responsible for the world's largest computing infrastructure, focusing on systems, repairs, issue resolution, parts management, and overall data center maintenance to shape the future of technology.
As a Data Centre Operations Engineer, you will serve as the primary point of contact for internal customers, tackling diverse daily challenges. Key responsibilities include:
- Troubleshooting advanced hardware issues on servers, storage, and networking devices 24/7. - Maintaining high levels of system reliability and availability. - Participating in projects to improve operational efficiency and sharing knowledge globally. - Training less technical staff on best practices for service owner issues. - Contributing to team growth by assisting in the Amazon hiring and interview process.
A typical day involves:
- Installing and configuring data center servers and network systems. - Performing installations, troubleshooting, and replacements of server and network device hardware. - Managing work within a ticket-based system for systematic problem resolution. - Adhering to a rotational shift schedule to ensure continuous system reliability. - Collaborating with internal teams on innovative projects to enhance the data center work environment and overall efficiencies.
This role is physically demanding, requiring constant movement onsite. We require at least one year of computer networking experience and a Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field. Preferred qualifications include the ability to work in confined or elevated spaces, handle customer interactions under pressure, manage priorities via a ticketing system, and possess experience with data center operations such as racking, stacking, and cable management.
