Amazon is expanding its Data Center management team in India, seeking an operational resource to support ADSIPL's data centers. This role is central to the hands-on management of Mechanical and Electrical (M&E) systems, ensuring the operational integrity of critical infrastructure supporting IT operations. Responsibilities include event, incident, problem, and change management, alongside cost and contract oversight. Building strong relationships with landlords, vendors, and internal teams in India is crucial.
This position requires a commitment to 24x7 on-call support, scheduled weekend work, and rotational shifts. Opportunities may be available in various Indian locations.
As a Data Center Engineering Operations (DCEO) Engineer, you will own Data Center changes, events, incidents, and problems from start to finish, including post-mortems and root cause analysis. You will ensure the timely and effective maintenance and repair of site-critical infrastructure, manage asset and inventory, and develop comprehensive documentation like method statements, SOPs, and emergency response plans.
Key duties involve standardizing operations with best practices, gaining deep knowledge of data center systems, and managing the financial, compliance, and personnel aspects of the engineering operations. You will also oversee health, safety, environmental, and energy management programs, delivering regular engineering reports and ensuring adherence to SLAs and KPIs. Effective communication of operating philosophies and technical information to internal teams and external vendors is essential.
Additional responsibilities include providing hands-on facility support for equipment installation and decommissioning, overseeing technical compliance audits, and managing energy/environmental programs. You will also contribute to incident and emergency response by reviewing reports, managing information flow during incidents, coordinating with vendors, and ensuring 24x7 safe and secure operations without availability impact.
We are seeking individuals with a high school diploma or equivalent, and a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field, or alternatively, 2+ years of experience in electrical or mechanical engineering. Prior experience in an operational role is also a prerequisite.
Preferred qualifications include 2+ years of dedicated data center engineering experience. Candidates with 1+ years of experience in data center or mission-critical facilities such as hospitals or military installations will be highly regarded. Additionally, 1+ years of general electrical or mechanical experience is beneficial.
